How phone interpreting works
Phone interpreting (also called over-the-phone or remote interpreting) lets two people who don't share a language talk through an interpreter who joins by phone.

The interpreter calls you
An available interpreter calls the number you gave us. Put the phone on speaker or add the other party to the call, and the session begins.
Setting up the call
- Same room: put your phone on speaker. The interpreter translates consecutively, sentence by sentence.
- Different places: when the interpreter calls, add the other person to a conference call, or give us both numbers in the comments.
- Speak in short sentences and pause regularly so the interpreter can render everything accurately.
Tips for a successful session
- Prepare the key information (names, dates, file numbers) before the call.
- Choose a quiet place with good reception.
- Speak directly to the other person, not to the interpreter.
- Tell the interpreter at the start if the topic is sensitive or technical.
